What is Solution Focused Hypnotherapy
Solution focused hypnotherapy is a positive and effective treatment which focuses on what it is you would like to achieve in the here and now and your desired future, rather than digging into your past problems.
By combining talking therapy, neuroscience and hypnosis, I will teach you how your mind works and how you can overcome negative thought patterns and limiting beliefs. We work together each session to make positive changes and by accessing the subconscious mind, this will enable you to get the very best out of yourself.
What is hypnosis?
Also known as trance, this is a state of mind that we do actually find ourselves in many times a day. When we are concentrating on something, such as watching TV or driving. It’s when our two minds (conscious and subconscious) come together. It is a very relaxing experience, and you are in complete control. I will play some calming music and guide you into the relaxing state.
I then use tailored language patterns and positive affirmations whilst accessing part of your brain that is responsible for your thought patterns. You will leave the session feeling totally relaxed and refreshed, with a feeling of confidence and motivation to take on your day.

Frequently Asked Questions About Hypnotherapy
1. How many sessions will I need?
It really depends on each individual but on average it can take between 6-10 sessions, sometimes more. As this is a person centered therapy it will be for you to decide when you feel ready.
For Phobias it is 4 sessions, for Smoking/Vaping it is just 1 session.
2. What happens in the sessions?
The very first session is free of charge and will last around 50 minutes.
This is an in-depth consultation which gives us the opportunity to discuss in more detail what it is you need help with and what it is you would like to achieve. We also look at how the brain/mind works and it is really useful in helping you understand yourself a little better. You will also receive a relaxation download to listen to in the comfort of your own surroundings.
The follow on sessions last 60 minutes. We always start the session on a positive note and look at what has gone well in the previous week. This will be followed up with some brain revision. I will then ask you some solution focused questions which will allow you to focus on your goals and how you can achieve them. We will then end the session with some hypnosis.
3. Online or face to face, which is best?
This is down to your preference. Having worked with clients both online and face to face they have all been equally successful in achieving what they set out to achieve. You are welcome to begin face to face and move to online, once you feel comfortable. For on line, you will need access to teams, and must find yourself a comfortable space where you will not be disturbed for the duration of the session.
I currently offer my sessions in the evening from 6pm – 8.30pm, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday’s and also Saturdays (12pm – 4pm)
4. Is hypnosis safe?
Hypnosis, when conducted by a trained and qualified professional, is generally considered safe. It is a natural state of mind that many people experience daily, such as when deeply engrossed in a book or daydreaming. Always ensure that you undergo hypnosis with a certified and experienced hypnotherapist. They should have appropriate training and credentials in hypnotherapy. Before undergoing hypnosis, you should fully understand the process and give your informed consent.
Hypnosis may not be suitable for everyone, particularly those with certain mental health conditions or cognitive impairments. It’s crucial to discuss any pre-existing conditions with your hypnotherapist beforehand. A responsible hypnotherapist will never force you to do anything against your will or manipulate you in any way. The focus should always be on your well-being and personal development.
5. What is the difference between hypnotherapy and stage hypnosis
Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic technique used to address various psychological and behavioural issues, such as anxiety, phobias, smoking cessation, and weight management. It focuses on promoting positive changes in an individual’s thoughts, feelings, and behaviour’s to improve their overall well-being. Stage hypnosis, on the other hand, is a form of entertainment where a hypnotist performs in front of an audience.
The primary goal of stage hypnosis is to entertain and amuse the audience by showcasing the power of suggestion and hypnosis. Participants volunteer to be hypnotised and engage in humorous or theatrical behaviour’s under the direction of the hypnotist.
